How to spot a scam text message on an Android device

Here’s how to recognise a scam text message.

Scam text messages are becoming more common. They often try to trick you into clicking a link or giving away personal information.

Look for these warning signs.

  • The message asks for personal or financial information
  • It creates urgency (e.g. “act now”)
  • It includes suspicious links
  • It comes from an unknown number
  • It contains spelling or grammar mistakes

If in doubt, do not click links or reply to the message.

You can delete the message or block the number.

If something does not look right, it is always safer not to click or respond.
