If you are receiving unwanted calls or messages, you can block the number.
Once blocked, that person will no longer be able to contact you.
On an iPhone
- Open the Phone app
- Tap Recents
- Find the number
- Tap the “i” (information icon)
- Scroll down
- Tap Block this Caller
On an Android phone
- Open the Phone app
- Tap Recents
- Tap the number you want to block
- Tap the menu/options icon (three lines or dots on the right)
- Tap Block number (or similar)
- Confirm if asked
Blocking from messages
You can also block directly from a text message:
- Open the Messages app
- Open the conversation from the number you want to block
- Tap the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner
- Tap Details or Options (this may vary)
- Scroll down to the bottom of the screen
- If you don’t see the block option straight away, scroll down the page. On some phones it is near the bottom.
- Tap Block number (or Block & report spam)
- Confirm if asked
What happens after blocking
- Calls will be stopped
- Messages will not be delivered
- The person will not be notified
Simple tip
If a number looks suspicious, block it rather than answering.
